In my experience, the quiet never lasts for too long. But just because you've hit a bump in the road doesn't automatically mean you have to stop.

[Not if that isn't what she wants. But at the same time, this is Chloe's free will being questioned, and it's simply more than a minor bump.]

But no one would blame you for taking a minute to think things through either.

The thing is, I don't feel like I can take a minute. Normally I've never had an issue separating myself from Lucifer when the drama gets too much to deal with, or he's not talking to me, but I feel like if I do it now, when he's finally opening up to me, he's just going to take it as me turning my back on him and he'll just shut down again.

[ She couldn't even bear to leave him for the night, even though part of her knew it probably would have been better for them both to step away. Chloe thought she had forgiven him for leaving her when she almost died but the truth was, she hadn't completely. Knowing how it felt made it more important to her to than ever to make sure he knew she wasn't going anywhere. ]

I think we worked out that we're not going to break up. At least for now. I don't want to break up, anyway, but his issues with his dad makes everything so much harder.

When we spoke earlier this evening, he seemed to sense that you would need space. That you would need this.

[She gestures to the space between them meaning that Chloe would need to confide in someone else to talk this through. She isn't sure where in the process of this their conversation was, but she feels like Chloe should know that he wasn't just speaking of his own needs.]

I think he understands more than you realize, and taking time with something like this can be important. If your relationship is on solid ground, then a little room to breathe won't hurt anything.

[ She lifts her eyebrows. It's an oddly perceptive thing for Lucifer to mention. He's been better about noticing Chloe's needs in Wonderland than he ever has been at home, but it's still a process for them. ]

I guess... I'm not sure our relationship is on solid ground. Not now, anyway.

Then give yourself room to breathe. Tell him if it's too much. If he doesn't respect those boundaries then maybe now isn't the right time for you two to be doing this.

[And she says this as one of the bigger Deckstar shippers in the mansion, okay. She is Team Chloe/Lucifer but only if they both are feeling good about it. Consent and comfort levels are important.]

[ She nods slowly. Freya, Seth, and even Georgia have all been incredibly supportive when it comes to her issues with Lucifer, but they've also been clear about where they think lines need to be drawn. And really, it's something Chloe is in need of. Sometimes, especially when it comes to Lucifer, she's too close to the see the bigger picture. ]

Yeah, you're right. Some room to breathe is probably a good idea. [ She manages a smile. ] And a few more drinks won't hurt.

Now that sounds like an excellent plan.
