( it doesn't take long for elena to settle back into life at wonderland. it isn't the first time she's been sent home, which helps with the adjustment process. it is the first time she's sent back for that long, however, and the time discrepancy is kind of disorienting. she's doing her rounds, if only to let people know that she's back, and finding freya in the gardens won't be too surprising. it isn't freya who spots her first, at least not right away. it's damon-the-weasel, who ambles his way over.

elena picks him up, and smiles a little to see there's more of him to hold on to. )

Someone's been feeding you well. ( she'd known bonnie's familiar would be in good hands. )

[She glanced back over her shoulder, and when she sees Elena she can't help but smile. Seems like all the pieces are back into place.]

He certainly enjoys being spoiled, if nothing else.

[She pauses, before pushing up to her feet and moving to join them.]

I noticed that Caroline was back as well. Seems as though everything is back as it was.

[Though whether she has a comment or not on Caroline's current lack of emotions, she doesn't say it.]

( elena's face falls at the mention of caroline, but it's brief.

she has faith they'll get her friend back, and moreover, freya has now piqued her curiosity. )

[She nods, before gesturing for Elena to follow her back to her room.]

I was working on it with Billy before you left, but I didn't have a chance to give it to you.

( there's a hint of curiosity in her voice as she falls into step beside freya. ) So it's a magic thing.

It is. But I decided to get a little proactive about my doppelganger problem.

[And Elena might not need it as much, but even if Freya did know she was a vampire, magic still works on vampires.

No matter what, Elena would be safer.]

( freya's doppelganger was able to subdue klaus himself, and elena can't think of anyone more powerful in their specific world. if that isn't an indication they need all the help they can get, elena isn't sure what is.

No, not at all. In fact, she's been very quiet, which may not mean anything. She could simply be waiting for something that we don't know what it is.

Honestly, the quiet is somehow more unnerving than if she were trying anything else. At least then we'd know.

( now it just feels like a prolonged calm before the storm. )

When Dahlia was working on her projects, she was very good at only making moves when she needed to. Gloating and instigating weren't really her style. It makes her harder to stop, but not impossible.
