History: The History of Freya
Personality:The most important thing to Freya Mikaelson is family.
While this could be true of many of the Originals, Freya is currently the only member actually grateful to be part of the Mikaelson family, in spite of all it’s faults. This doesn’t mean she is blind to each of their faults, and calls them out on them repeatedly, but after spending a thousand years trying to find them, she can put up with their tiny faults and tendencies to murder if it means not being alone and being a part of a family again. It also helps that she shares Niklaus’ violent temper and has done desperate things to secure her own freedom, but at the end of the day she is the calming force in the Mikaelson home, the glue that holds her siblings together after Rebekah takes her leave of her family, and more to the point, her family is something she’s earned. After spending a thousand years thinking she’s dead, she had to earn her family’s trust in blood, and now that she’s gained it, she is not ready to let it go for the world.
Freya is soft-spoken, for the most part, but that is more in tone than words. She is capable of making her threats quite clear, and more often than not, they’re not threats, they’re promises. She will do whatever it takes to make sure that her goals are met, whether that be returning to her family, saving them from themselves, or destroying the woman who destroyed her. Her focus can become almost single-minded as a result, and she’s willing to sacrifice anything - or anyone - who gets in the way of that goal. This isn’t to say that she isn’t capable of kindness, however, but that kindness is usually only shown to those who have earned it, and most of it is spent on her niece, Hope and the rest of her family. While she doesn’t overtly show signs of abuse, she was stuck in an abusive relationship for so long that it would be hard for her not to show signs.
Freya has a very low tolerance for bullies and even less for traitors. In fact, when she first awakens after her hundred year sleep in 2014, while she merely tosses the Kindred around for bullying the other witches in the Dowager Fauline Cottage, she grossly murders Cassie because she betrayed Rebekah instead of helping her. This likely stems back to when she was taken as a child by her Aunt Dahlia, and her mother did nothing to save her in return. That betrayal by her mother and blame for the subsequent enslavement to her aunt is something that she’s carried with her for years. In turn, she held on to the idealized version of her father, and is probably the only of the Mikaelsons who actually mourned for him when he died for the second time, still attached to the parent that loved her and refusing to believe that her mother did as well. After all, Esther lied to her father and told him Freya was dead, so she clearly did not care enough to try and save her.
At the same time, a huge part of Freya’s identity is that of a witch. She was taken from her family because she was the firstborn witch of her generation and the power she would hold, and Dahlia raised her as more of a magical battery than her actual daughter, and later a literal incubator for a line of magical children that she could link together to increase her power. Freya originally swore that she would never love so Dahlia would never have any children to draw from, but she is far too emotional to actually keep that promise. When she finally did fall in love and become pregnant, she tried to run away with her lover, but Dahlia wasn’t havin’ any of that. She killed Mathias right in front of her, and in retaliation Freya tried to kill herself, so that her unborn child wouldn’t be enslaved the way she was. Unfortunately for her, the spell that bound her to Dahlia also wouldn’t allow her to die, but that spell wasn’t in place to protect her child. This heartbreak was too much for her to bear, and only drove her further against her aunt and forced her to hone her power the way Dahlia did. Even with Dahlia gone, Freya’s place in her family is that of the Mikaelson witch, and she loves that place, and loves her magic, even despite how she learned it. After a thousand years, it’s how she’s learned to cope with the world and how she will continue to do so for some time.
Upon arriving in Teleios, Freya’s first concern is going to be her family, especially Rebekah. Given tha Rebekah was in danger shortly before her arrival, she is going to want to make sure that her sister is alright first and worry about everything else later. She will be pleased, however, to be reunited with her brother Kol and be able to spend time with her niece, and will likely be content to stay with her family, even if the rest of her brothers aren’t here.
Powers/Abilities:Freya Mikaelson is a witch! And not just any ordinary witch either, she is the first born of Esther’s family line so she’s more like a supawitch. The massive amounts of power that she had as a result of being linked to Dahlia are gone, however, so she’s not as strong as she used to be but that doesn’t mean she couldn’t fuck your shit up if you got on her bad side. That being said, she has been showing to use all of the following abilities on the show, to be added as The Originals decides to make stuff up:Your general Traditional Magic or “spirit magic” spellcasting skillset + almost a thousand years of knowledge and experience. Telekinesis to the extent of being able to snap several vampire necks at once Teleportation Astral projection Elemental magic
However, given her position as the first born of her family line, this power can be considered unstable and unreliable, and even with her thousand years of experience, can fail on occasion.
Appearance: Freya is a tall slim blond and carries herself with all of the confidence of someone who has lived for a thousand years. She is fond of neutral colors and tones, and has more of an earthy/hippie feel to her wardrobe in comparison to her cousins.
